Digital Disruption

“Space is no longer limited”

The World Wide Web has enable us to connect, learn and communicate in ways we could not imagine prior to the year 2000. However, anyone who was born or started kindergarten after the year 2000 only knows this way of life.

Technology has shaped everything we do. As I often tell people, the monthly cost of a cell phone service is definitely worth it IF we use the phone to its full potential. Phones, internet and people are not going anywhere – FACE IT. We need to continue to emphasize the importance of mobile media/use within our school communities. Students need to be taught how to operate and see the benefits that technology provides. They can build online portfolios with video content, communicate with scholars around the world, learn new languages, and etc. There is no longer “six degrees of separation.” It has been eliminated.

Parent communication has also advanced because of technology. From phone calls to e-mails to text messages to social media, schools have NO excuse not to get in contact with parents. Plus, parents are a child’s number one advocate and a teacher’s best friend with the proper communication. This allows students to have full support and the opportunity to be successful.
